Course Description

This course is designed to enhance skills necessary to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot an EX2100e Static Exciter and Regulator system and the related communication networks.

Training consists of remote lecture, classroom exercises, operation overview, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.

The participants will perform hands-on lab exercises using an EX2100e cloud-based simulator for “hands-on” training connected to remote controller.  There will be a minimum of one EX2100e simulator per student with 24-hour access available for participant usage.

Prerequisites

Participants should have:

  • Instruction and course material are given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.
  • Reasonable computer skills
  • Desktop/laptop with high speed internet connection

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

  • Review generator fundamentals and construction
  • Understand generator operation and synchronization
  • Review exciter fundamentals and operation
  • Interpret EX2100e elementary drawing
  • Identify different EX2100e hardware (control boards)
  • Review functionality of major control boards
  • Navigate ToolBox ST and EX2100e software
  • Interpret EX2100e diagrams to facilitate testing
  • Perform simulation testing (V/Hz, auto, manual, UEL, OEL, PT failure)
  • Perform data collection using Trender and DDR
  • Identify EX2100e problems “entered into the system by the instructor” i.e. troubleshooting examples 
  • List the steps required to safely lockout and tagout the EX2100e
