Course Description

This course will familiarize the student with the procedures required to assess the operational condition of internal gas turbine components using borescope equipment.

Prerequisites

Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.

A basic understanding of your gas turbine or completion of the LMS100 Engine Familiarization course is highly recommended, as well as a reasonable level of mechanical skill and use of hand tools is required.

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

  • Terminology
  • Care and use of borescope equipment
  • Understanding inspection limits specified in O&M manuals
  • Applicable GEK/OMM work packages
  • Using a borescope to identify defects

Course Content

LESSON 1

  1. Related terminology
  2. Care, use and capabilities of borescope equipment
  3. Interpretation and application of inspection limits found in the applicable Operation and Maintenance manual

LESSON  2

  1. Review of applicable Operations and Maintenance Borescope work packages
  2. Hands-on practice with finding/identifying defects on our training engine
