Gas Turbine - LMS100 Level 2 Cold Maintenance 

Course Description

This course provides the skills necessary to perform Level 2 Cold Maintenance on the LMS100 gas turbine.  In addition to classroom instruction, the course also includes hands-on maintenance such as removal, inspection, and replacement of internal parts.

Prerequisites

Participants must have:

  • Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.
  • Reasonable computer skills
  • Basic understanding of your gas turbine or completion of the LMS100 Engine Familiarization course is highly recommended, as well as, reasonable level of mechanical skill and use of hand tools is required

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

 

  • Removal of variable inlet guide vane
  • Stage 0 blade replacement
  • Removal and re-installation of LP compressor
  • Replacement of #1 air / oil seal
  • LP compressor stage 1-3 blade replacement
  • LP compressor stage 0-3 vane replacement
  • Removal and re-installation of HP compressor upper case
  • HP compressor stage blade replacement
  • HP compressor stage vane replacement

LESSON 1

  1. Use of applicable Operation and Maintenance manuals
  2. Removal, inspection and installation of internal engine components including:
    1. Starter/clutch assembly
    2. Radial drive shaft 
    3. Accessory gearbox 

LESSON 2

  1. Removal, inspection and installation of the HP compressor top case
  2. Removal, inspection and installation of stage 1 rotor blades
  3. Removal, inspection and installation of stage 2 rotor blades
  4. Removal, inspection and installation of 3 to 14 rotor blades

LESSON 3

  1. Removal, inspection and installation of the HP compressor top case
  2. Removal, inspection and installation of stage 1 rotor blades
  3. Removal, inspection and installation of stage 2 rotor blades
  4. Removal, inspection and installation of stage 3 to 14 rotor blades

LESSON 4

  1. Removal, inspection and installation of IGV-stage 2 shrouds
  2. Removal, inspection and installation of IGV-stage 2 vanes
  3. Removal, inspection and installation of stage 3-13 vanes
