Course Description

This course is for Control Room Operators, Control Technicians and Engineers, and is designed to test and sharpen troubleshooting & operations skills for the purpose of trip reduction & recovery, maintaining optimum performance and availability.  Participants of this course will gain the fundamental skills of a competent Control Room Operator and those skills of an experienced Mark™ VI TA.  Participants will find themselves facing every day to extreme operating conditions with 100% hands-on training that is realistic and practical. 

This is the second of five courses offered in our progressive series on the Mark™ VI Control. This series of courses is the perfect progression in learning your Mark™ VI Control giving you the knowledge and confidence each step along the way to perform your job responsibilities to your fullest potential.  GE Documentation will be taught and used throughout the course, the same way your unit is designed to be operated & maintained.

This course is part of a new series of advanced classes that expands on what was formerly Regional Training. This course is intended for industrial gas and steam turbine users and NOT for customers with Aeroderivative applications.

Prerequisites

Instruction is given in English, therefore a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required

Fundamental operational and controls skills, with a moderate level of computer literacy are recommended

Have attended the “Mark™ VI Operation” course, or possess equivalent knowledge, including experience with Toolbox

Open to all GE Mark™ VI Control owners

NOTE: Participants will have difficulty participating in this course if they have not attended the prerequisite course.

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

  • Test and sharpen participants troubleshooting & operations skills for the purpose of trip reduction & recovery, maintaining optimum performance and availability
  • Learn how to respond to various levels of alarms throughout operation
  • Learn how to follow an alarm through software using Toolbox to the singular field device that caused the alarm
  • Learn how to use the advanced high-speed data collection utilities and the analysis of that data, ie., Trigged Trends, DDRs and Trip LogsControl Technicians
