Course Description

This course will provide academic and practical hands-on instruction on selected maintenance procedures required to return a gas turbine to a serviceable condition by removal, replacement or adjustment of external parts.

This course is intended for customer personnel who perform or supervise maintenance on the GE LM2500+ Aeroderivative gas turbine.

Prerequisites

Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.

A basic understanding of your gas turbine or completion of the LM2500+ Familiarization course is highly recommended, as well as a reasonable level of mechanical skill and use of hand tools is required.

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

  • Different levels of maintenance
  • Use of OMM (Operations and Maintenance Manual)
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Rigging
  • Replacement   of   components (variable   geometry   actuators, hydraulic   control   unit, variable   geometry   pump, lube   and scavenge pump, pressure and temperature sensors, fuel nozzles, accelerometers, ignition components, starter, speed  sensors, air/oil separator, carbon seals, pipes and hoses)

LESSON 1

  1. Discussion of different levels of maintenance
  2. Use of applicable Operations and Maintenance manuals
  3. Preventative maintenance and servicing

LESSON  2-5

  1. Replacement of selected external components including variable geometry actuators.
  2. Hydraulic control unit, variable geometry control and rigging of system if applicable.
  3. Lubrication and scavenge pump, pressure and temperature sensors, fuel nozzles, vibration. 
  4. Accelerometers, ignition components, starter, speed sensors, air/oil separator, carbon seals,
  5. External pipes and hoses.
