Course Description

The course will familiarize the participant with the problems that can occur during startup and shutdown and the methods that can be employed to minimize such problems.  This course will also introduce the participant to basic startup and shutdown procedures for a steam turbine and the safety guidelines that need to be followed while operating or working on a steam turbine.

Prerequisites

• Course material is in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand English is required.
• The participant should have a basic understanding of the operational fundamentals of a steam turbine and an intimate familiarity with all the safety regulations and guidelines.

• Identify safety guidelines to be followed when working on a steam turbine.

Course Content

In this course the participant will be introduced to proper startup and shutdown procedures of steam turbines.  The participant will also be familiarized with some of the problems that can occur during startup and shutdown and the methods that can be employed to control the problems.
