Who should attend?

This course is intended for customers who want to expand their on-site/shipboard maintenance capabilities to include internal repairs of the GE LM2500+ aeroderivitive gas turbine.


Prerequisites

A basic understanding of your gas turbine or completion of the LM2500+ Familiarization course is highly recommended, as well as a reasonable level of mechanical skill and use of hand tools is required. Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.


Course Requirements and Attire 

  • Picture ID is required. No visitors will be allowed to enter the training facility without a picture ID - NO EXCEPTIONS. Please carry a picture ID at all times while on any GE premises.
  • The appropriate dress for this course is casual.
  • Please note that CTEC is a place of business - no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs.
  • All students taking maintenance training courses are asked to bring safety glasses (Z87 standard) and steel-toed shoes. Safety glasses will be worn when performing shop maintenance tasks. CTEC does have 1 pair of loaner shoes in the most popular sizes and disposable saftey glasses.
  • Failure to have proper Personal Protective Equipment may result in student not being able to participate in hand-on portions of course."

Day 1-2 Use of applicable Operation and Maintenance manuals
  Removal, inspection and installation of internal engine components including:
Radial Drive shaft
Inlet gearbox
Accessory Gearbox
Front Frame
#3 bearing inner race

Day 3-5 Removal, inspection and installation of internal engine components including:
  High Pressure Compressor Case
High Pressure Compressor rotor blades
Static balance program

This course provides training on the essential elements of the Mk VI turbine control system. The course will include instruction on the hardware and software components of the Mk VI control system and its interface system (HMI). Alarm troubleshooting and LVDT calibration will be central topics of the program. Additionally, practical exercises on Mk VI equipment will reinforce the daily lecture material.
