Instruction is designed so technical personnel responsible for the hands- on maintenance of the LM6000 will benefit most from this training. Scope of training focuses on selected Level 2 procedures identified in the applicable Operation and Maintenance manual.

GTCM

This course offers a firm understanding of the basic maintenance requirements of all types of GE heavy duty gas turbines and their auxiliary support systems. This course does not include any discussions of generators.

The course is designed for those persons with no or limited knowledge of gas turbines.

The objective of this course is to give participants an understanding of basic gas turbine component construction and maintenance procedures as well as a fundamental knowledge of the auxiliary systems function and preventative maintenance requirements. This fundamental knowledge will allow participants to approach maintenance activities with confidence.

Emphasis is placed on the following areas:

  • Basic gas turbine operating cycle
  • Review of gas turbine major components, equipment arrangements and associated maintenance requirements of each section of the turbine.
  • Turbine operations and the affect on maintenance intervals
  • Purpose, function and routine preventative maintenance of the various turbine support systems such as the lubricating oil, hydraulic, variable inlet guide vanes and fuels
  • A review of standard practices, tooling and parts needed to successfully conduct inspections
  • How to source information in the GE Gas Turbine Service Manuals The course is held at the GE Energy Learning Center in Niskayuna (Schenectady), NY USA. This location has turbine equipment available to view that enhances the learning experience beyond the classroom lectures and discussions.

This course offers instruction on the hardware and software of the controller equipment. The course material and exercises provide training on the software tools that are used to troubleshoot alarms, edit the sequencing, configure the Inputs and outputs (both hardwired and networked), and calibrate Servo-Actuated Valve LVDT's and other devices. Additional class work includes information on the Cimplicity operator interface (HMI). Lectures and hands-on exercises develop a thorough understanding of ToolboxST and other software tools.
