Gas/Steam Mark VI/Mark VIe; Adding Signals & Customizing Screens for Cimplicity (6.1 or older)

This course introduces site engineers and technicians to the Cimplicity HMI software. It offers instruction on developing and editing HMI operating display screens. The course material and exercises provide training on displaying alarms and events and trending the collected data. GE Mark Controls Trender function.


Objectives

By the end of this program, the participant should:

  • Develop a working knowledge of how to setup communications between the HMI and the control
  • TCI, EGD, OPC or others varies with GE Mk Controls?
  • Develop a working knowledge of the database tool
  • TCI, EGD, OPC or others varies with GE Mk Controls?
  • Be able to develop and edit screens
  • Be able to capture and display alarms and events
  • This is a GE Mk Controls function (Trender, Triggered Trends, Trip Log, DDRs)
  • Be able to setup and display trends
  • This is a GE Mk Controls function (Trender, Triggered Trends, Trip Log, DDRs)


Course Content

The course includes:

  • Setting up communication with the control system * See above
  • Navigating the screens and determining screen functionality
  • Viewing and building the database * See above
  • Editing existing pages and creating new ones
  • Attaching control data to new pages


Prerequisites

Students must possess the following:

  • A basic understanding of their turbine equipment and its operation
  • Reasonable computer skills (an ability to navigate the interface operating system)
  • Reasonable ability to read and understand English

Course Requirements and Attire
  • All visitors must check in at the first morning. Name badges will be distributed when checking in and must be worn at all times while in the facility.

  • The required dress for this course is "business casual." Please no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

Effective March 1, 2011, the GE Energy Learning Center will become a tobacco-free campus and smoking will be prohibited in all areas of the property, including outdoor space owned by GE. This means that all employees, as well as customers, contractors and visitors will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on our campuses, including in motor vehicles. If an individual wishes to use tobacco products he/she needs to leave the campus in order to smoke or to use smokeless tobacco. Leaving campus is only acceptable during regularly scheduled lunch breaks. Leaving the property during shorter class breaks will not provide adequate time to return to class. Persons who do not comply will be asked to leave the campus.
