Advanced GT Controls; Essential Alarm Troubleshooting & System Diagnostics

What will I learn from this course?

This course is conducted under extreme GT operating conditions provided by simulation. It is designed to test and sharpen advanced operators skills for the purpose of trip reduction & recovery, maintaining optimum performance & availability and development of basic alarm troubleshooting skills. Advanced GT events as trips and essential alarms will be central topics of this program.*

*This course is 100% hands on.


Why is this course unique?

Students are encouraged to bring their own site software as part of the course (Trip & Alarm Logs, M6B file, Screens etc). Students are also encouraged to bring their own laptops. Those who choose to participate in this manner will be provided a virtual machine (VM) of a near fully functional HMI. * Installation of VM Player software is required, certain restrictions may apply. Contact your instructor a minimum of one week prior to the course for details of laptop specifications or questions regarding site software or virtualization.


Prerequisites

As instruction is given in English, a reasonable ability to read and understand English.


Course Requirements and Attire

The appropriate dress for this course is casual. Please note that the GE Energy Learning Center is a place of business - no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs.

     Control System Overview - TMR design

          Day 2

     Control System Software - Privileges, Navigation, Utilities, Reports

     Cimplicity Config - Point name extraction

          Day 3

     Alarm Troubleshooting (Discrete)- Basic Discrete Blockware Analysis

          Day 4

     Alarm Troubleshooting (Analog)- Basic Analog Blockware Analysis

          Day 5

     Alarm Troubleshooting - Intermediate Alarm Troubleshooting – Field Level Device assessment, Field Validation
