Steam Turbine Construction and Maintenance
This course offers a firm understanding of the basic maintenance requirements of all types of GE Steam Turbine Generators (STG's) and their auxiliary support systems.
The course is designed for those persons with no or limited knowledge of GE STG's.
The objective of this course is to give participants an understanding of basic STG component construction and maintenance procedures as well as a fundamental knowledge of the auxiliary systems function and preventative maintenance requirements. This fundamental knowledge will allow participants to approach maintenance activities with confidence.
Emphasis is placed on the following areas:
- Review of STG major components, equipment arrangements and associated maintenance requirements of each section of the turbine
- Turbine operations and the affect on maintenance intervals
- Purpose, function and routine preventative maintenance of the various turbine support systems
- A review of standard practices, tooling and parts needed to successfully conduct inspections
- How to source information in the GE STG Service Manuals
This course consists of classroom lectures and visits to the STG manufacturing and assembly areas at our facility in Schenectday New York USA.
Who should attend?
Management, Mechanics, Operators, Engineers, Technicians, and Administrative personnel of operating facilities as well those who may work in affiliated industries, who wish to gain an understanding of the routine maintenance requirements of GE STG's.
This course is intended for personnel that are unfamiliar with or have limited knowledge of GE STG maintenance.
Prerequisites
- Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.
- Course enrollment is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 participants.
Course Requirements and Attire
- Energy Learning Center (ELC) visitors with a valid GE or ELC contractor picture ID will be cleared by the security guard at the Main Entrance after signing in. All visitors must show proof of identification, sign in and receive a visitor ID from the security guard.
- The required dress for this course is "business casual." Please no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbiage or signs.
