Gas Turbine Advanced Operation - F-Class Turbines

Gas Turbine Advanced Operation

This course is designed to enhance GE F-class gas turbine-generator operation skills. The course provides a detailed overview of F-class turbine operating sequences and control and protection functions. The course builds upon student's operational skills. Develops a background in gas turbine-generator operation that enables participants to properly analyze operating problems and take the necessary corrective action.

This course will focus on the gas turbine and generator control and protection and does not include discussions on auxiliary support systems. Please refer to the Agenda noted below.

Participants may wish to bring their unit specific "Control Specification" with them to facilitate correlating classroom discussions with specific unit parameters.

The course is held at the GE Energy Learning Center in Niskayuna (Schenectady), NY USA. This location has turbine equipment available to view that enhances the learning experience beyond the classroom lectures and discussions.


Who should attend?

Engineers, operations, maintenance technicians, administrative personnel and those in affiliated industries who have a background in GT operations and wish to gain further understanding of the operation of GE heavy duty gas turbines.


Prerequisites
  • Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.
  • Course enrollment is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 participants.


Course Requirements and Attire
  • Energy Learning Center (ELC) visitors with a valid GE or ELC contractor picture ID will be cleared by the security guard at the Main Entrance after signing in. All visitors must show proof of identification, sign in and receive a visitor ID from the security guard.
  • The required dress for this course is "business casual." Please no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbiage or signs.

Effective March 1, 2011, the GE Energy Learning Center will become a tobacco-free campus and smoking will be prohibited in all areas of the property, including outdoor space owned by GE. This means that all employees, as well as customers, contractors and visitors will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on our campuses, including in motor vehicles. If an individual wishes to use tobacco products he/she needs to leave the campus in order to smoke or to use smokeless tobacco. Leaving campus is only acceptable during regularly scheduled lunch breaks. Leaving the property during shorter class breaks will not provide adequate time to return to class. Persons who do not comply will be asked to leave the campus.
