Innovation Series LCI™ for Turbine Static Start Applications

LS2100

This course is designed for engineering and maintenance personnel who configure, and maintain the LCI static starter. Laboratory assignments include hardware identification, pump panel troubleshooting and diagnostics, Hyper terminal communications, understanding the monitor commands, and user diagnostic tests.This course will utilize Simulators, and a full functioning LCI starter. Lectures and hands-on exercises develop a thorough understanding of the equipment.


Who should attend?

Qualified engineers and technicians who wish to gain an understanding of the LCI synchronous generator starting system.


Prerequisites

Electrical experience / education and familiarity with Windows. Reasonable computer skills Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required. Participants are encouraged to research their turbine-generator equipment and documentation to verify they have an Innovation Series LCI static starter, and to bring a copy of their system elementary drawing with them to class.


Course Requirements and Attire 

The appropriate dress for this course is casual. Please note that the GE Energy Learning Center is a place of business - no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs.

Effective March 1, 2011, the GE Energy Learning Center will become a tobacco-free campus and smoking will be prohibited in all areas of the property, including outdoor space owned by GE. This means that all employees, as well as customers, contractors and visitors will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on our campuses, including in motor vehicles. If an individual wishes to use tobacco products he/she needs to leave the campus in order to smoke or to use smokeless tobacco. Leaving campus is only acceptable during regularly scheduled lunch breaks. Leaving the property during shorter class breaks will not provide adequate time to return to class. Persons who do not comply will be asked to leave the campus.

Day 1 Hardware overview
Liquid cooling system power conversion theory
Elementary diagram reading
Pump panel operations maintenance and troubleshooting

Day 2 Using the Hyper terminal program
Using the monitor commands
Loading DSPC runtime
Up/Downloading the users parameters

Day 3 Programming of DACs for diagnostics
Utilizing and understanding the circular list Functions
Real-time recording
Gas turbine, static starter, excitation, generator operation and theory

Day 4 Running the diagnostic tests
Scaling feedback signals, and nulling offsets
Troubleshooting faults and alarms
Quiz and wrap-up

Note: Half-day classes will end at 12:00 noon. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided each day.
