LM2X Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Operations\Familiarization

This LM2X (LM2500, LM2500+ etc…) course is designed to cover topics from Basic Gas turbine theory to detailed turbine operation to ensure consistent, trouble-free performance from the engine and its associated equipment. This course develops a background in gas turbine operation that enables participants to analyze operating problems properly and take the necessary corrective action.

We emphasize the operator's responsibilities with regard to auxiliary systems, operational data taking and evaluation. Operators are instructed in how to interpret fault annunciation and how to determine if the annunciated fault can be remedied by operator action or by the assistance of instrumentation and/or maintenance personnel. The course focuses on package familiarization, starting, loading and specific operator checks of the various turbine support and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of the gas turbine.

Participants may with to bring their unit “specific Worksheets”, and F&ID’s with them to facilitate correlating classroom discussion with specific unit parameters.

The course consists of classroom lectures and a visit to the package manufacturing and assembly plant at our facility in Houston, Texas.

Operators, engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel of operating facilities as well as those who may work in affiliated industries, who wish to gain an understanding of the day-to-day operation of GE Aeroderivative gas turbines.

This course is intended for personnel unfamiliar with GE Aeroderivative gas turbines. It should be considered as a “beginner” level course.

Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.

• All visitors must check in at the Front Desk each morning. Please carry a picture ID. Name badges will be distributed when checking in and must be worn at all times while in the facility. Please sign out at the end of each day.
• The required dress for this course is "business casual." Please no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

Effective March 1, 2011, the GE Energy Learning Center will become a tobacco-free campus and smoking will be prohibited in all areas of the property, including outdoor space owned by GE. This means that all employees, as well as customers, contractors and visitors will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on our campuses, including in motor vehicles. If an individual wishes to use tobacco products he/she needs to leave the campus in order to smoke or to use smokeless tobacco. Leaving campus is only acceptable during regularly scheduled lunch breaks. Leaving the property during shorter class breaks will not provide adequate time to return to class. Persons who do not comply will be asked to leave the campus.
