Combined Cycle Operation
This course offers a firm understanding of the basic operations of GE Combine Cycle Plants.The course is designed for those persons with no or limited knowledge of Combine Cycle Plants. The objective of this course is to give participants an understanding of basic Combine Cycle Power Plants operations as well as a fundamental knowledge on plant start-up, normal operations, shutdown and abnormal operations. A distinct emphasis upon safe, efficient power plant operations. Emphasis is placed on the following areas:
- Thermodynamic Review
- Operating Philosophy
- General Operator Responsibilities
- Systems Review and Operation
- Plant Start-up
- Operations
- Shutdown This course consists of classroom lectures and daily in-depth walkdowns for training at Sites.
Who should attend?
Operators, engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel of operating facilities as well those who may work in affiliated industries, who wish to gain an understanding of the day-to-day operation of GE Combine Cycle Power Plant. This course is intended for personnel unfamiliar with GE Combine Cycle. It should be considered as a "beginner" level course.
Prerequisites
- Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.
- Course enrollment is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 participants.
Course Requirements and Attire
- Energy Learning Center (ELC) visitors with a valid GE or ELC contractor picture ID will be cleared by the security guard at the Main Entrance after signing in. All visitors must show proof of identification, sign in and receive a visitor ID from the security guard.
- The required dress for this course is "business casual." Please no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbiage or signs.
Effective March 1, 2011, the GE Energy Learning Center will become a tobacco-free campus and smoking will be prohibited in all areas of the property, including outdoor space owned by GE. This means that all employees, as well as customers, contractors and visitors will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on our campuses, including in motor vehicles. If an individual wishes to use tobacco products he/she needs to leave the campus in order to smoke or to use smokeless tobacco. Leaving campus is only acceptable during regularly scheduled lunch breaks. Leaving the property during shorter class breaks will not provide adequate time to return to class. Persons who do not comply will be asked to leave the campus.
