LCI (LS2100™) for Turbine Static Start Applications

LS2100

This course is designed for engineering and maintenance personnel who configure, and maintain the LCI static starter. Laboratory assignments include hardware identification, Hyper terminal and Control System Toolbox™ communications, understanding the monitor commands, and user diagnostic tests. This course will utilize Simulators, and a full functioning LCI starter. Lectures and hands-on exercises develop a thorough understanding of the equipment.


Who should attend?

Qualified engineers and technicians who wish to gain an understanding of the LCI synchronous generator starting system.


Prerequisites

Electrical experience / education and familiarity with Windows. Reasonable computer skills Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required. Participants are encouraged to research their turbine-generator equipment and documentation to verify they have an Innovation Series LCI static starter, and to bring a copy of their system elementary drawing with them to class.


Course Requirements and Attire 

The appropriate dress for this course is casual. Please note that the GE Energy Learning Center is a place of business - no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs.

Day 1 Hardware overview
Liquid cooling system power conversion theory
Elementary diagram reading
Pump panel operations maintenance and troubleshooting

Day 2 Loading DSPC runtime
Control System Toolbox™ familiarization
Trend recording with capture buffer for troubleshooting
Innovation Controller functions
Versamax™ PLC functions

Day 3 Programming of DACs for diagnostics
Utilizing and understanding the circular list Functions
Real-time recording
Gas turbine, static starter, excitation, generator operation and theory

Day 4 Running the diagnostic tests
Scaling feedback signals, and nulling offsets
Troubleshooting faults and alarms
Quiz and wrapup

Note: Half-day classes will end at 12:00 noon. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided each day.
