Gas/Steam Mark VI (with HMI, Toolbox 11) For Technicians

This course provides training on the essential elements of the Mk VI turbine control system. The course will include instruction on the hardware and software components of the Mk VI control system and its interface system (HMI). Alarm troubleshooting and LVDT calibration will be central topics of the program. Additionally, practical exercises on Mk VI equipment will reinforce the daily lecture material.


Who should attend?

Qualified engineers and technicians who wish to gain an understanding of Mk VI turbine control systems. This course is intended for industrial gas and steam turbine users and NOT for customers with aeroderivative applications.


Prerequisites
  • Basic understanding of turbine equipment and its operation (gas or steam)
  • Familiarity with control system basics
  • Reasonable computer skills
  • Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required

Course Requirements and Attire 
  • All visitors must check in at the Main Lobby each day of this course. Name badges will be distributed when checking in and must be worn at all times while in the facility. NOTE: Main Lobby hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM local time.
  • The appropriate dress for this course is casual. Please note that the GE Energy Learning Center is a place of business - no tank tops or shirts with inappropriate verbage or signs.

Effective March 1, 2011, the GE Energy Learning Center will become a tobacco-free campus and smoking will be prohibited in all areas of the property, including outdoor space owned by GE. This means that all employees, as well as customers, contractors and visitors will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on our campuses, including in motor vehicles. If an individual wishes to use tobacco products he/she needs to leave the campus in order to smoke or to use smokeless tobacco. Leaving campus is only acceptable during regularly scheduled lunch breaks. Leaving the property during shorter class breaks will not provide adequate time to return to class. Persons who do not comply will be asked to leave the campus.

Recommendations

It is advisable (but not required) for each student to bring their own laptop. The laptop is used for taking notes and viewing the training CD that comes with the course. For this course, you can bring your m6b files and Cimplicity screens on laptop or CD.
